Pipeline Surge Relief System

The nitrogen loaded relief / back pressure control valves are specifically designed to regulate and control maximum pipeline pressures or to maintain a minimum back pressure in the system.

In various liquid handling applications such as storage terminals, marine unloading & loading, pipelines, the surge relief systems are necessary to protect surge pressures. The pressure surges can be generated in a pipeline by anything that causes rapid change in the liquid velocity in a line such as closure of the valve, pumps tripping and/or thermal expansion. The system is designed considering various parameters like increasing pressure, the volumes that pass by the pressure relief system and it’s design capacity for containing pressure. The surge must be eliminated to protect the line from any leaks or pipeline damage.
